Pimpa’s Unforgettable Winter Getaway in Bali

CARO DIARIO,

Brrr, I didn’t expect winter in Brisbane to be FREDDISSIMO! My friends at St Columba’s have told me that this is quite unusual here in Queensland, The Sunshine State! In fact, many Aussie families choose to visit Brisbane during the cooler months of June and July due to the pleasant weather in the city. But what about the residents of Brisbane? Where do they seek refuge when the cold days settle in?

Well, my friends Eva and Arlo and their family had been planning an awesome trip to Bali and when they asked me if I wanted to come along, I had one answer – SI, OVVIAMENTE!! Who can resist a tropical island adventure?

Off we went, Eva helped me through security at Brisbane airport. We could hardly contain our excitement. The flight was a breeze – just 6 and a half hours. That’s nothing compared to the time it took me to get to Australia from Italy!!

I got to chat with Eva and Arlo about all the fun activities lined up for our upcoming vacation. I was told that Bali is very beautiful, with many fascinating sites and of course, beautiful friendly locals and yummy food! MAMMA MIA, it was absolutely true! It was a whirlwind of new sights, sounds, and tastes. We even picked up some Indonesian along the way. ‘BUONGIORNO‘ is ‘SELAMAT PAGI’ and ‘GRAZIE‘ is ‘TERIMA KASIH’.

The temples, shrines and statues we saw were SPETTACOLARI and the beaches were INCREDIBILI. We witnessed some amazing sunsets and the food, oh the food! – ‘Nasi goreng’ a yummy fried rice dish, became my new favourite – ASSOLUTAMENTE DELIZIOSO!

I am so grateful that Arlo and Eva’s family took me along with them to experience Balinese culture first hand. I may be far from home, but I feel so welcomed wherever I go. And having great travel companions, makes it all the more special!

As we were flying back to Australia, Eva and I both wrote about our experiences and I thought I would share what Eva said:

“My holiday by Eva:

I went on a holiday to Bali with my mum, dad, brother and Pimpa.  Bali is in a different country so we all had a passport including Pimpa. When I got there it was very different to Brisbane and the people spoke a different language. Pimpa and I got to share a bunk bed with Arlo my brother. The resort had a big pool and floating beds we played on. Everyday we had a buffet breakfast, I had waffles and they were yummy! One of Pimpa’s favorite things was the fire show where people did stuff with fire. We also saw a wood crafting place and rice fields where rice grows in water. We had the best time!”

Well CARO DIARIO, that’s it for now! I see that Bluey has been travelling too; I bet she loved MILANO
