CARISSIMO DIARIO,
Well, aren’t I spoiled! Another beach holiday for me with my friends Harper from Year 2 and Liliana from Year 5. CHE DIVERTIMENTO! (What fun!) I travelled this time to a beautiful beach town in the northern part of the state of New South Wales, called Yamba. Did you see that the girls buried me in sand all the way up to my chin! Luckily I didn’t get sand in my mouth! I did however get a bit of a wash in the surf when, as we were exploring the mossy rock pools, a big wave caught me by surprise! Thankfully we are all excellent swimmers. The girls are even learning how to surf! Check out these awesome boards on display. One of my favourite parts of our trip was when we went on a beautiful trip up to the lighthouse. It was very cute!
This week I also got introduced to a very Aussie food – something I have never tasted back in Italy- the traditional meat pie! I was told that the tastiest way to eat this iconic dish is with plenty of tomato sauce squeezed on the top of this savoury pastry. It was BUONISSIMO (delicious)! I can see why it is a favourite snack that people eat for school lunches or at the footy while they enjoy watching a match.
Bluey, if you are reading this, I must tell you – when I explained to the St Columba’s school students that kids in Italy usually finish school at 1:30pm, they didn’t believe me at first. They were also shocked to hear that many school kids even go to school on Saturday mornings. NO WAY, they said. One thing that they did think was pretty cool, is that most kids in Italy don’t have to wear a DIVISA (uniform) to school. They said they would prefer to wear play clothes to school every day. You know what though, I have been told that all Aussie kids must wear a hat if they are going to play during break times. NO HAT NO PLAY, as they say. With the unforgiving sun here in Brisbane, we all can agree that this is a really good rule to keep us all sun safe!
Let’s see if on my next adventure I can be introduced to the famous Aussie breakfast- Vegemite on toast! Something tells me it if definitely NOT going to taste like Nutella!
Well, this is Pimpa signing off after another brilliant adventure!
A PRESTO!
