CARISSIMO DIARIO!

Oh, what a GIORNATA FANTASTICA (fantastic day) it was with the Year 1 Koalas class! We went on an incredible excursion to Northey Street Farm, and È STATO STUPENDO (it was amazing)! You know, I always get excited about these trips—there’s always something new and amazing to discover! 🌿

PRIMA (First off), we saw these ADORABILI GALLINE (adorable chickens) roaming around freely. They were clucking and pecking, and I even got to feed them! Then, we embarked on a bush tucker walk, learning all about how the Turrbal and Yuggera People used plants. Can you believe they used a special leaf to make fish sleepy so they could catch them? MA QUANTO È BELLO (How cool is that)?! And let’s not forget the interesting facts we discovered about the benefits of worm farms and companion planting. I was completely fascinated! But the best part? Tasting the raw honey! 🍯 It was so sweet and delicious, and the bee hives were up high to keep them safe from INONDAZIONI (floods). Smart, right?

After all the excitement at the farm, I was so tired that I fell asleep on the bus ride back to school. But guess what? As soon as we got back to St Columba’s, I was bursting with energy again because I was heading off with LA MIA AMICA, Gigi for an epic adventure at the 2024 Ekka! 🎡

The Ekka, or the Royal Queensland Show, is the biggest and most beloved event in Queensland, attracting on average 400,000 people every year! It’s like a magical carnival with everything you could imagine—woodchop contests, giant veggie displays, cute animals, world-class live entertainment, arts and craft competitions, carnival rides and showbags, educational activities and oh, award winning food of course!

Gigi had been eagerly awaiting her opportunity to host me and we had an amazing day! Her family got me tickets to board a Brisbane city council bus to the showgrounds. We had the time of our lives on the rides, took tons of happy snaps, and even sat on the famous Sunrise couch! PER PRANZO (For lunch), we devoured an iconic Dagwood dog and later, enjoyed treats from a Bertie Beetle showbag. And the day ended with a bang—literally—with FUOCHI D’ARTIFICIO (fireworks) lighting up the night sky! 🎆 I was so excited, I might have barked a little! There’s so much to celebrate in Queensland, and I felt so proud to be part of it all! What a day!
